" John J. Holland. ABSTRACT Protein kinases are known to be involved in the regulation of the virion assembly, rep-lication, and dissociation of numerous animal viruses. In contrast, there is a knowledge of scarce regarding the role of protein phosphorylation in the infection cycle. Potato virus A (PVA) is a positive-strand RNA virus, which belongs to the genus Poty-virus; family Potyviridae. The present work describes how the PVA movement-related proteins CP and VPg, when phosphorylated by protein kinase, function in the viral movement and replication cycle. In this study, coat protein (CP) and viral genome linked protein (VPg) are shown to be under the regulation of tobacco protein kinases in vitro and in vivo. This finding suggests a mechanism to regulate the formation and stability of viral ribonucleoprotein complexes. This study also shows that VPg bound to virions can interact with host kinases. The VPg is known to support vascular movement with a different efficiency in tobacco and in potato. Detailed biochemical analysis reveals variations between different …

Interaction of Sesbania Mosaic Virus Movement Protein with VPg and P10: Implication to Specificity of Genome Recognition
Sesbania mosaic virus (SeMV) is a single strand positive-sense RNA plant virus that belongs to the genus Sobemovirus. The mechanism of cell-to-cell movement in sobemoviruses has not been well studied. With a view to identify the viral encoded ancillary proteins of SeMV that may assist in cell-to-cell movement of the virus, all the proteins encoded by SeMV genome were cloned into yeast Matchmake...

متن کاملPrediction of Host-Derived miRNAs with the Potential to Target PVY in Potato Plants
Potato virus Y has emerged as a threatening problem in all potato growing areas around the globe. PVY reduces the yield and quality of potato cultivars. During the last 30 years, significant genetic changes in PVY strains have been observed with an increased incidence associated with crop damage. In the current study, computational approaches were applied to predict Potato derived miRNA targets...
